Surrey Short Breaks for Disabled Children recently have completed a re-tendering exercise for all after school and holiday club provision. We are fortunate that our Cool Club was successful in securing funding for the next 3 years, albeit at a significantly reduced amount.
We will continue to run Cool Club on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, offering a varied and fun programme throughout the year, including activities such as art and craft sessions, music and drama. There are two clubs on a Wednesday, one for students with more complex needs – this club is very sensory based. The second club on Wednesday is for more able students who enjoy sport – it is a fitness club with opportunities to try different sporting activities. Swimming may be available on Thursday sessions, and we also try to arrange visiting professionals such as sports coaches, and music and drama specialists at different times throughout the year.
The reduction in funding will mean that slightly fewer places are available at Cool Club, and we must increase the parental contribution to £13 per session. To minimise our administration costs, it is requested that parental contributions are received in advance, and your assistance is appreciated in making payment as soon as your child’s place is confirmed.
If you would like to request a place for your child at any of the Cool Clubs for the Spring Term, please contact the School Office for an application form. Places are limited, so regrettably we are unlikely to be able to fulfil all requests. Places will be allocated before the end of December, and you will be notified of your child’s sessions and the contribution required at that time. If we are unable to offer your child any sessions for the Spring term, they will be placed on a waiting list and we will endeavour to provide a place for your child in the next term.
Each club starts as school finishes, 3-20pm, and on Tuesday &Thursday runs until 5-45pm, Wednesday club finishes a little earlier, at 5-15pm. Students have relaxation time and a snack before being picked up by parents at the end of club. The club is well staffed by experienced members of the school team. No student will be excluded if their parents are unable to make the contribution of £13 per session. Please contact the School Office, in confidence, to discuss your circumstances.
