Music is an important and highly valued element of Clifton Hill’s curriculum. Our aim is to develop self-confidence, communication skills and musical ability through the music curriculum.
Every class receives at least one music lesson each week delivered by the specialist music teacher. Music is taught using a variety of fun and exciting approaches designed to suit the individual needs of each class. This includes music technology, interactive music and instrumental music. The music room has a wide range of instruments including many different world instruments. The music teacher produces a new set of interactive music songs each term, that are put on the learning platform for students to access at home.
Everyone is welcome to join the Clifton Hill choir who practice and sing a variety of songs including our very own Clifton Hill song! The focus is on fun, building confidence, integration and enjoying all the benefits of being part of a larger music group.
Students regularly take part in county music activities and two students currently attend the Surrey “UP” orchestra, with whom they played at the Royal Albert Hall.
The school puts on an annual show which is one of the highlights of the school year. Our latest show “One world many sounds” involved every student and was supported by many families and carers.
