The school nursing team at Clifton Hill School consists of two Registered Nurses and a Health Care Assistant. The team are employed by the NHS, Children and Family Health Surrey but work as an integral part of the school community, our the students are met, so that they may achieve their full potential whilst at school.
The Nursing Team will identify health needs of a student through an initial health assessment with the parents and student. Care plans will be completed for individual specific health needs.
All school staff are trained by the nursing team to ensure individual student’s care needs are met. All staff are trained in epilepsy management, anaphylaxis and asthma care. School staff will also be trained in specific tasks such enteral feeding, oxygen use and suctioning and infection control.
Students will be supported with toilet training if required; assessment and advice can be given with continence provision.
The Nursing Team regularly liaise with other professionals within the community, including Paediatricians, GP’s, Community Nurses, Learning Disability Nurses Dieticians, Social Services, Physiotherapists and the speech and language therapy team.
Other clinics carried out in school include immunisations, growth assessment, vision and dental screening and Downs’s surveillance clinic.
